Alkohol im Kaufmannsladen - Alcohol in the toy shop

As I have a few old shops in my collection,
I find it quite boring to equip each one with the same food packages.
So some shops have specialized,
e.g. this shop - made at the beginning of the 60s
by Crailsheimer - became a bar.
All alcohol-related items of my collection
I put into this bar or pub, beer mugs, bottles ...
and it proved to be a lot.
That generation did not have a problem with children imitating
the alcohol habits of their parents.
The plastic figurines in the shop window are called "margarine figurines",
because during the 50s they promoted the selling of margarine.
Here they show men performing sports activities
and should be taken as trophies in this bar.

In the middle the golden sign of the company
"Crailsheimer" and above a souvenir of the 50s,
the small tags of fortune symbols were meant
to identify the glass of everybody on the party.

During the50s alcohol inevitably belonged to a shop for children to play with.
The bottles were filled with a coloured liquid, now evaporated.

 Kein Kaufladen ohne Hochprozentiges.

Liqueur and beer bottle labels.

Mehr Flaschen und Gläser - More bottles and glasses

Ein Crailsheimer Wohnzimmerschrank mit Glasregalen vor einer verspiegelten Rückseite.
A Crailsheimer cabinet - about 1960 - with glass shelves in front of a mirrored back.

Oben sind Plastikweingläser ausgestellt. Unten "Gläser" aus Metall.
On the top shelf are "glasses" made of plastic and on the bottom "glasses" made of metal.

Eine alte Packung mit Miniaturflaschen aus Plastik -
wer sich mit den Flaschendesigns auskennt,
könnte sie wohl genau datieren. Ich tippe auf die 60er.
An old box with plastic miniature bottles -
if you know the labels history you could date it exaxtly. I think it is of the 60s.

Some labels, like Grand Marnier and Coitreau, look exactly the same as 50 years later.

Die Flaschen sind Cocktailspieß-Aufsätze.
The miniature bottles are actually the top of cocktail sticks.

Im kleinen Heft sind Cocktail-Rezepte.
The tiny booklet contains recipes for cocktails.

70er Jahre

A cafeteria and bar by Modella -
although the bottles contain apple juice according to their labels,
the design of the glasses tell another story.

This is not the price list of a milk bar.

1976 Landmann

The barbecue party above looks quite innocent but nevertheless the set of daily provisions below contains bread, milk, cheese and licqueur.

Bardamen - Barmaids

Sollten wirklich Kinder damit spielen?
Well, the barmaids - aren't they pretty ugly?
They wear delicate bras and high-heels and have eye-lids that open and close.
Were they really meant for kids to play with?
Yes, they were actually sold as "teenage doll"s -
even though they not at all look like teenagers to me.
They were cheap Barbie dolls of that time.

BHs aus Plastik und Stoffunterhosen.
Plastic bras and panties made of cloth.

This fixed group of dolls from the 50s
was probably meant as a piece for decoration.
It is an example for the love of the exotic at that period, c
ollecting and displaying souveniers of places people often had never been to.
Countries like Italy, Hawaii, the Caribbean or Africa were the most popular ones.

This is the summary and updated version of several older posts.

  2. I found your site by accident. I am very happy that I did. I have a love of many of the 50's and 60's German dolhouses and miniatures. Thank you for posting all your marvelous information. I hope to someday be able to find one of my own. It is very difficult to find them here, in the states, but I will keep looking. :-)
